After a morning of cleaning, we headed out to run some errands in the afternoon. My mom stopped by a school store (to pick up some homeschooling material), so we all browsed a bit. They had a whole display of dice (I guess that's a popular teaching tool...?), including these neat little dudes. I saw no point in purchasing one, so I photographed them instead.

Tuesday was a rather average day. We ran some errands, dropped by my grandmother's house and took my car to Sears to have the battery tested. (The good news: the issues I've been having with it isn't in the battery. The bad news: looks like I have an electrical problem.)

Today has actually been a rather full day. I've done dishes, cleaned part of the kitchen (it is my mission to do some aggressive cleaning and organizing of the place this week), trimmed the hyssop again (with "help" from a bee), helped my mom pull our sunflowers (the squirrels removed the heads and ran off with them, so the sunflowers looked like large, green sticks), received my new contact juggling stage ball and purchased a Fushigi (informative rant to come).
This here is a photograph of the root systems of some of the sunflowers. Some of them gave us trouble when we tried to pull them, others came out of the ground easily. We found an ant colony underneath them (running through the roots of the sunflowers and everything) and are hoping that pulling the flowers will eradicate that problem.
Now, on the topic of Fushigi:
This is something I've been meaning to address on my blog for a while, but just haven't gotten around to. Back in February (I believe), a new television commercial was filmed, advertising a product called "Fushigi". The commercials led many people to believe that the ball was gravity defying (partially due to their "Magic Gravity Ball" slogan). Since then, many people have discovered that Fushigi is not, in fact, a gravity defying ball (though I still wonder at the people that thought such a product was possible).
Fushigi isn't a skill. Nor is it new to the world. Fushigi is a contact juggling ball. Albeit, a cheap, not-so-durable acrylic. I could give you the entire history of Fushigi, but I shall refrain from doing so. Instead, I'll say this: Fushigi has not made the contact juggling community very happy. What the "creator" of the ball has attempted to do is turn a penny and, in doing so, has almost successfully re-branded the art of contact juggling. If it weren't for the efforts of contact jugglers, he might have succeeded.
Over the months, contact jugglers have purchased (and, in some cases, been given free Fushigi samples) to test the quality. The findings have been startling (pardon the melodrama). Due to Fushigi's double sphere design, the ball isn't as durable as a traditional acrylic. Also, it's been found that the balls come damaged. Folks have discovered that Fushigi comes scratched (inner ball and outer ball), have incredibly visible seams (inner and outer ball), that the inner ball is not balanced (kinda ruins the illusion, don't ya think?) and, in my family's case, that the acrylic layer has bubbles in it. I also discovered a couple of typos on the box and "information sheet" that came in the package.
To make a long story short - if you're interested in contact juggling, check out Renegade Juggling's stage balls and acrylic balls. You'll be glad you did.

Went outside and hung out with my young neighbor for a bit, again. She brought her bead kit over at one point to show me and insisted that I make myself a bracelet. I picked the beads out and she helped me get them on the string and tie it.

My local Breyer dealer had her annual Breyer Fun Day on the twenty-fifth. Part of the event is painting one of their smallest model sizes (Stablemates). I decided to go for a piratical horse this year. He turned out better than expected!

I spent most of my day cleaning (I got immense delight out of using a new type of window cleaning solution, which worked fabulously), which made for a rather unexciting day. Our landlord was supposed to come over and continue working on our door, but never showed up... So the door project is still ongoing.

I purchased a couple new T-shirts while at the outlet mall in Castle Rock last Friday. I washed them yesterday afternoon and thus, was able to wear one of them today! This shirt was pretty neat and the real reason I decided to purchase new shirts at all.
So here it is, a photo of me looking mildly annoyed, sporting my new shirt. (I wasn't actually annoyed - merely trying to maintain a decent expression whilst photographing myself.)
