2 June, 2011 - Sunflower Planting

Illustrate symmetry in a photograph today.

We finally sowed our sunflower seeds this afternoon. So now those little plants are on their way to growing up big and strong. (At least, that's my hope. We're planting them a bit late, so they probably aren't likely to get as big as they could.)

While we were out of doors, we cleaned up the front yard a fair bit and threw out a bunch of the plants that just couldn't survive the winter (or the landlord imposed drought.)

It just so happens that my sister's Johnny Jump-Ups decided to defy all laws of planters (surprise, surprise) and have picked the cracks of the concrete to grow out of. They really are absolutely adorable, sprouting up wherever the seed landed, so we're leaving them be. I had a good time getting some photos of the boldly colored flowers this afternoon.

For the photography purists out there--one unedited shot.

A heavily edited image, for the fun of it.
